YOOX was founded in Milan in 2000 by Federico Marchetti and built its business on selling designer fashion from past seasons at a discount, alongside some current pieces, its own 8 by YOOX label and design objects. After the 2015 merger with Net-a-Porter it became part of YOOX Net-a-Porter, which Mytheresa's parent company, now called LuxExperience, bought in 2025. US shoppers use yoox.com/us with prices in dollars; the UK version, yoox.com/uk, shows prices in pounds with duties and taxes included.

Product pages carry several reference prices. The publication price is what the item cost when it first appeared on YOOX, with the markdown since then shown as a percentage. The UK site adds a Recommended Retail Price, taken from the Italian price list supplied by the manufacturer or retailer, and the lowest price of the past 30 days; the US site shows a reference price instead. On top of that come seasonal sales and promo codes that you enter at checkout.

Because most stock comes in small quantities, an item is often marked down in several steps, and the piece you want can sell out between two of them.
