Harrods traces its history to 1849, when Charles Henry Harrod took over a small shop in Knightsbridge; the current Brompton Road building opened in 1905 and holds more than 330 departments, from fashion and fine jewellery to the Food Halls. Since 2010 the store has belonged to Qatar's sovereign wealth fund. Besides Knightsbridge, there are smaller H beauty stores around the UK, and harrods.com ships internationally – US customers see prices in dollars on harrods.com/en-us.
The winter and summer Sales bring the main reductions. Harrods Rewards, the loyalty programme, earns you points online and in store that you can spend at the till or on harrods.com, plus surprise offers on selected days; higher tiers add personal discount days. For US orders, Harrods includes duties and taxes in the product price wherever possible and otherwise shows them at checkout. International orders go by standard delivery only, and some beauty, food and wine products can't be shipped abroad.
Because Harrods prices differ between country versions, track the product page in the version you'll actually buy from. Harrods offers free returns on orders shipped worldwide, but the original delivery charge isn't refunded. Duties paid at checkout come back with your refund; duties paid to the carrier on delivery don't, so where you have the choice, pay them at checkout.
