Privacy Policy

    Last updated: October 2026

    1. Introduction

The controller responsible for data processing on this website is the operator of SaleAlarm named in the imprint (“we”). We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy policy explains which data we collect, what we use it for, who receives it and what rights you have.

    2. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal data to provide our price tracking service:

    • Email address: to send you price alerts and service messages
    • Product data: the product URLs you submit, plus the product name, price and currency we read from them
    • Usage data: information about how you use the website (see section 6)
    • Technical data: when you visit the website or submit the form, data such as your IP address, browser type and time of access are processed for technical reasons

    3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data exclusively for:

    • Sending price drop alerts to your email address
    • Tracking prices of products you have requested
    • Statistical analysis of how the website is used, so we can improve it (see section 6)

Legal bases under the GDPR: we process your email address and product data because this is necessary to provide the service you requested (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We process technical data and run web analytics on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the website securely and improving it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

    4. Storage location and security

Your data is stored and processed by the service providers listed in section 5 – including in the USA. We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Your email address is never sold, passed on to third parties for marketing purposes or used for unsolicited messages.

    5. Service providers and transfers abroad

We use the following service providers to run SaleAlarm; they process data in doing so:

    • Cloudflare, Inc. (USA): delivery and protection of the website; technical data such as your IP address is processed
    • Abacus.AI, Inc. (USA): operation of our backend – storage of email addresses and product data, regular price checks and sending of email notifications
    • External page-retrieval services: if a product page is protected against bots, it may be loaded through an external retrieval service, to which the product URL is transmitted
    • Google Ireland Limited (Ireland) and Google LLC (USA): web analytics with Google Analytics (see section 6)
    • Microsoft Corporation (USA): web analytics with Microsoft Clarity (see section 6)

As a result, personal data is also transferred to the USA. From the perspective of Switzerland and the EU, the USA does not in every case offer an adequate level of data protection; in particular, US authorities may in certain circumstances be able to access the data.

    6. Cookies and web analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our website. Google Analytics records, for example, the pages you visit, time spent on the site, device type and approximate location. Microsoft Clarity records clicks, scrolling and mouse movements and uses them to create heatmaps and session recordings. Both services set cookies that recognise your browser (Google Analytics: “_ga”, up to 2 years; Clarity: “_clck”, 1 year, and “_clsk”, 1 day). This data is pseudonymous – it contains no name or email address – but it still counts as personal data.

The analytics services are loaded when you open the website, without asking for your consent first. You can object at any time by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings, by using a tracking blocker or by installing Google's browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

    7. Links to shops and affiliate links

Some pages link to online shops. These links first lead to salealarm.io/go/, which redirects you to the shop. For this redirect, Cloudflare (see section 5) technically processes your IP address and the request data. We also record the click (shop and page language) in Google Analytics (see section 6).

Some of these links may be affiliate links (marked as such). SaleAlarm does not add any information about you to the link. After the redirect, the shop or an affiliate network – for example Awin, Rakuten Advertising or Impact – may set cookies or use similar technologies to attribute a purchase to SaleAlarm; they are responsible for this under their own privacy policies. SaleAlarm does not receive buyers' names, addresses or contact details from them, only details of referred purchases such as date, order value and commission. Legal basis under the GDPR: our legitimate interest in funding the free service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

    8. Your Rights

Under the FADP and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the following rights:

    • Right to access: Request a copy of your personal data
    • Right to rectification: Correct inaccurate personal data
    • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data
    • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
    • Right to object: Object to processing of your personal data

    9. Data retention

We store your email address and the data relating to your price alerts in order to provide the service. You can end individual price alerts at any time via the unsubscribe link in our emails. If you would like us to delete your data completely, just send an email to privacy@salealarm.io and we will delete it within 30 days.

    10. Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or wish to exercise your rights, contact us at privacy@salealarm.io. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority – in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU with the supervisory authority of your country of residence.
