Vans began on 16 March 1966, when Paul Van Doren, his brother James and Gordon Lee opened the Van Doren Rubber Company in Anaheim, California, making shoes and selling them straight to customers. The “Off The Wall” slogan dates from 1976, around the time the Old Skool introduced the brand's side stripe. Vans Family, the free loyalty programme, started in the US and came to the UK in 2019. Custom pairs are made to order and priced on their own. Ready-made styles are reduced in the sale section, at the end of each season and around Black Friday.
