Dr. Martens Price Tracker

Dr. Martens is the British boot brand behind the iconic 1460 boot and 1461 shoe. Prices are fairly stable, but older colours and special editions are reduced in sales and around Black Friday. SaleAlarm tracks your Dr. Martens product and emails you when the price drops.

What you should know about Dr. Martens

Dr. Martens traces its air-cushioned sole to Klaus Märtens, a German army doctor who designed it after a skiing injury in 1945 and began production with Herbert Funck in Seeshaupt, Bavaria, in 1947. British shoemaker R. Griggs bought the rights in 1959, added the yellow stitching and launched the eight-eyelet 1460 boot on 1 April 1960. Headquartered in Camden, London, and listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2021, the brand sells through drmartens.com – with separate US and UK stores – and many retailers.

Most pairs are made in Asia, but the Made in England line still comes from the brand's Cobbs Lane factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire, and costs considerably more than the standard versions. Core styles rarely change price; reductions mostly come through the sale section, at the end of a season and around Black Friday. Vegan versions of many classics, first introduced in 2011, are sold as separate products with their own prices, so two near-identical boots can be reduced at different times.

Each style comes in several leathers and finishes – smooth, nappa, patent and more – as well as different colours and heights, and every version has its own price and stock. Dr. Martens are also made in whole sizes only, so the size you need can sell out while neighbouring sizes remain. Set your alert on the exact leather, colour and size you want, and check quickly when the email arrives.

    Saving tips for Dr. Martens

    • Classic Dr. Martens are also sold by many shoe retailers. Track the same model in several shops – reductions often appear at retailers first.

    • Decide early whether you want the Made in England version or the standard one: the price gap is large, and a reduction on one doesn't carry over to the other, so track only the pair you'd actually buy.

    • Watch out for fake shops: sites imitating the official store have been reported, and Dr. Martens warns about counterfeits. Before buying a heavily reduced pair from an unfamiliar site, make sure it's drmartens.com or a retailer you know.
