Birkenstock Price Tracker

Birkenstock is a German shoe brand famous for cork footbed sandals such as the Arizona, Boston and Gizeh. The brand itself rarely discounts, but retailers do reduce certain colours and models. SaleAlarm tracks your Birkenstock product and emails you when the price drops.

What you should know about Birkenstock

Birkenstock traces its roots to 1774, when Johannes Birkenstock was recorded as a shoemaker in the Hessian village of Langen-Bergheim, and its contoured footbed grew out of the flexible insoles Konrad Birkenstock developed from the 1890s. The classics came later: Madrid in 1963, Arizona in 1973, Boston in 1976 and Gizeh in 1983. The group is based in Linz am Rhein and has been listed in New York since 2023. In the US, birkenstock.com is run by Birkenstock USA; UK orders go to Birkenstock Europe GmbH.

Birkenstock guards its prices closely: its own FAQ calls drastically lower prices or constant big discounts a warning sign, since the brand only offers such deals occasionally. The US shop has a sale section, and the free BIRKENSTOCK VIP programme earns one point per dollar, redeemable for coupons, with tiers based on lifetime spend. In the UK, free membership brings early access to sales, member-exclusive products, a birthday surprise and member discounts in the Last Seasons section, which holds styles from earlier collections.

Most models come in several materials and colours, in EU sizes, in regular and narrow widths and often with a soft footbed as an alternative to the classic one – and each version has its own stock and price. A reduction on the suede Boston in one colour says nothing about the oiled-leather version in narrow width. Set your alert on the exact combination you wear, so the email you get is about your pair and not a lookalike.

    Saving tips for Birkenstock

    • Track the same Birkenstock model in the brand shop and at shoe retailers – retailers are more likely to reduce, especially at the end of summer.

    • Birkenstock advises buying only from birkenstock.com, official Birkenstock stores or authorised retailers, and notes that its own shops use birkenstock.com with a country folder such as /us or /gb. If an unknown site undercuts everyone else by a wide margin, check it against Birkenstock's list of authorised retailers before you track it.

    • In the UK, Birkenstock also has a boutique at Bicester Village, the outlet centre near Oxford. If you're in the area, compare the price of your tracked model there before ordering at full price online.
