What you should know about Office Depot

Office Depot opened its first store in October 1986 in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, and is headquartered in Boca Raton. It merged with OfficeMax in 2013, and the parent, The ODP Corporation, was taken private by Atlas Holdings in a deal completed in December 2025. It runs Office Depot and OfficeMax stores across the US, officedepot.com and a business-to-business arm. The European business, including Viking, was sold in 2017, and Office Depot in Mexico belongs to Grupo Gigante – so UK shoppers deal with separate companies.

Prices follow weekly deals, clearance, back-to-school and the big holiday weekends. Office Depot OfficeMax Rewards members see bonus-rewards offers that are updated every Monday, members-only deals and credit for recycling ink and toner. Teachers can verify their status for extra deals. The price-match guarantee covers lower prices from qualifying competitors on new, identical, in-stock items at the time of purchase or for a short period afterwards, but excludes Marketplace items, clearance and closeouts.

Office Depot is a store for larger purchases – chairs, desks, printers, laptops – and for supplies you buy over and over. An alert on the exact model and colour shows you when the price really falls, rather than when a "bonus rewards" offer simply returns value for later. Set it a few weeks ahead of back-to-school or Black Friday, and you'll know the usual price well enough to judge whether an event deal is worth it.

    Saving tips for Office Depot

    • Office chairs and desks are often reduced in promotions. Track the model you want – the next deal may be weeks away.

    • Bonus Rewards offers such as "40% back in rewards" are credited for future purchases, not taken off the price today. Compare them with a straight price cut, and remember the weekly offers change every Monday.

    • Ordering from a third-party seller on officedepot.com? Marketplace items are excluded from the price-match guarantee, and the seller sets its own price – check who sells the item before you rely on a match.
