Dyson was founded by James Dyson in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, in 1991 and built its first bagless dual-cyclone vacuum in 1993; since 2019 the group has been headquartered in Singapore. Dyson machines are also sold by large retailers such as Best Buy in the US and Currys or John Lewis in the UK, which set their own prices and don't always discount at the same time as Dyson. Dyson's own outlet sells Certified Dyson Refurbished machines, which may have cosmetic imperfections and cost less than new ones. In the US, though, refurbished machines come with a shorter warranty, and they are sold as final sale.
Dyson model names hide a lot of variation: a cordless vacuum can come with different tool kits, and hair stylers appear in special colours and gift editions, each with its own price and product page.
