What you should know about Clinique
Clinique grew out of a 1967 Vogue article, “Can Great Skin Be Created?”, written by beauty editor Carol Phillips with dermatologist Norman Orentreich. Evelyn Lauder, Estée Lauder's daughter-in-law, brought both on board, and in April 1968 Clinique premiered at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York as an allergy-tested, dermatologist-guided line built around a 3-step routine. Part of The Estée Lauder Companies, it sells in the US through clinique.com, department stores and a store on Amazon's Premium Beauty section, and in the UK through clinique.co.uk.
On both clinique.com and clinique.co.uk, the free Smart Rewards programme shapes what you pay: members earn a point for every dollar or pound spent on the site, move through three tiers and redeem points for products, with extras such as a birthday gift; the UK site also runs double-points events. Gift-with-purchase offers, where a selection of minis comes free above a spending threshold, return regularly, alongside category events and holiday sets. Department stores set their own prices for the same products.
Clinique is a brand people restock: Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+, Moisture Surge, or the Even Better foundation shade you've worn for years. Set a price alert on that exact product and size before you run out, and SaleAlarm emails you when the price drops. If the drop coincides with a gift-with-purchase offer you get both – and you won't be tempted to pay full price just because the free gift looks generous.
When does Clinique have sales?

Saving tips for Clinique
Clinique products you buy again and again are perfect for price tracking. Compare the brand shop with perfumeries and stock up during promotions.
In the US, clinique.com marks some products as FSA eligible. If you have a flexible spending account, check whether the product you're tracking qualifies – paying with pre-tax money adds to the saving from a price drop.
UK Smart Rewards members can time purchases for double-points events: when SaleAlarm reports a price drop, check whether one is running, so the cheaper purchase also earns extra points towards free products.
